What Should I Ask When Someone Requests a Chicago Spotlight?
When a customer asks for a 'Chicago spotlight,' I don't pretend to know exactly what they mean. It's not a standard FEIT Electric product term. Usually they mean a narrow-beam outdoor spotlight for accenting a sign, a wall, or a flag. Or they need a fixture that can survive Chicago weather. If it's going outside, the wet-location rating matters more than the phrase on the box.

What I can tell you from a buyer's perspective is to ask two questions: what beam angle do you need, and what mounting location are you dealing with? A 120-degree beam is effectively a floodlight; a 15-degree beam is a true spotlight. If you order a 'spotlight' with the wrong beam angle, you'll get a pool of light on the ground instead of on the wall.
Also check the fixture's listing for wet locations, not just damp locations. In Chicago weather, that distinction is a deal-breaker.
FEIT Electric WiFi or Zigbee: Which Smart Lighting Option Should I Spec?
For a single smart bulb in a customer's lamp, WiFi is the easy answer. They don't need a hub; the bulb connects to their router, and the app controls it. For a larger install, like a retail space or multifamily common area, WiFi can become crowded. Zigbee bulbs form a mesh network and talk to each other, but they require a hub that supports Zigbee. Not every hub supports every Zigbee device.
The no-brainer here is to test one unit in the actual environment before spending your budget. Install the app, pair the bulb, and walk the site. If the customer's hub is older, check the supported device list. Don't promise 'works with everything.' I stopped saying that after a customer's hub refused to pair a Zigbee bulb that worked fine in our office.
Also, think about who will support it later. A WiFi bulb that drops off the router is a service call. A Zigbee bulb that falls off the mesh might be a different service call. The hardware cost is easier to compare than the support cost.
When Is a Lower Quote Not a Better Deal?
I used to be the buyer who put the lowest unit price in the spreadsheet and called it a decision. Then I paid for a redo on a job where the 'cheaper' downlight had a different connector type and the electrician had to modify every housing. The upfront savings were tiny; the labor overrun was not.
Total cost of ownership includes the product price, shipping, installation time, replacement rate, and the cost of getting it wrong. The U.S. Department of Energy's LED basics page (energy.gov) puts the energy savings at roughly 75% compared with incandescent lighting, which is a strong financial case. But that case only holds if the LED product doesn't cause a callback. A $0.70 saving per bulb on 2,000 bulbs is $1,400. If 3% need replacement in the first year and each replacement costs $15 in labor, that's $900 of your savings gone. A 5% failure rate wipes it out.
I'm not saying the most expensive product is always the safest. I'm saying compare the total cost, not the ticket price. If a supplier's product is untested in your type of fixture, that's a risk. If it's a known FEIT Electric product with a clear spec sheet and warranty documentation, that's worth something. Put another way: cheap is fine when it passes the technical review. But never let the price column overrule the spec column.
